This series marks the beginning of my reflections on home, and the quiet tension between belonging and estrangement. Photographed between 2014 and 2017 on medium format colour film during my visits to Latvia, these images attempt to hold both the place as I remember it and the place as it exists now.

The work explores the idea of home in its broadest sense, through themes of childhood, myth, and identity. The title, Turning of the Sun, refers both to the cycle of seasons central to Latvian culture and its pagan roots, and to the slow wheel of birth and death.
